Coriander Chutney (Kotthamalli thogayal)
Popular among South-Indians, Coriander chutney is a thick gravy made from coriander leaves seasoned with spices. You can mix this chutney with rice, or have it as a side dish for idlis or chapatis, or spread them on sandwiches. In Tamil, Coriander is known as "Koth-tha-malli" and chutney comes closest to "Tho-gale"(thogayal).
Ingredients
Bunch of coriander leaves
Dry red chillies
Mustard seeds
Urad dal
Tamarind water
Pinch of salt
Oil
Method
1. In a pan, heat oil. When the oil is hot, add the mustard seeds.
2. When the seeds start to splutter, add the chillies and urad dal.
3. Fry well and remove.
4. Transfer to a grinder or a mixie.
5. Add the coriander leaves and tamarind water.
6. Grind coarsely. The chutney is ready!
