Cous Cous Salad

The credit for this recipe really belongs to my sister-in-law. So here's a toast for you Sumi! Mom learnt it while we holidayed at my brother's place. Now, this salad is popularly enjoyed by friends and family. Cous Cous is traditionally served with vegetables or meat.

Ingredients
1 cup Cous Cous
1 cup onion
1 cup tomato
1 cup boiled corn
1 cup boiled carror juliennes
Raisins
Pinch of asafoetida or hing
1 cup coriander leaves
Lime juice
Salt and pepper to taste

Method
1. Boil the cous cous until it turns soft.
Note: This is dependant on the variety.
2. Drain and transfer to a salad bowl.
3. Add the rest of the vegetables to the cous cous.
4. Add the raisins, hing, salt, pepper and lime juice.
5. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve.

I think you mean cous cous and not khus khus.

Are they different? When I googled the term for the spelling, I got both versions!

No wonder my mom was given Ghasa-Ghasas every time she asked for Cous Cous. I finally found an Organics shop that delivers the pasta. Thanks Raaga!
