Peas and Paneer in Spicy Tomato Base

Ingredients
Onions
Boiled peas
Cottage cheese (Paneer)
Tomato
Tomato puree
Chopped coriander
Chopped mint 1 cup
Cream 1 tsp
Maida 1 tsp
Milk 1 tsbp
Yogurt/Curd  1 tbsp

Spices
Cloves
Bay leaf
Cardamom
Garam Masala
Chilli powder
Turmeric
Salt
Black pepper
Butter

Method
1. Heat a pan and melt butter.
2. Add the onions and fry well.
3. Now add the cloves, bay leaf and cardamom and fry again.
4. Add the tomatoes and stir.
5. Add the boiled peas and stir once again.
6. Add the rest of the spices and allow the vegetables to soften.
7. Add the tomato puree and allow the mixture to boil.
8. Add the coriander leaves and stir.
9. Cube the paneer and soften it by leaving them in hot water for a minute.
10. Drain and add the water to the vegetables.
11. Add the paneer to the vegetables.
12. Add the pudina also and mix well.
13. Add a dollop of butter.
Cover with lid and switch off gas. Before you serve, garnish with cream

I've always wondered about garam masala... Isn't it just the rest of the spices ground together? Then why does it need to be added separately?

Hey Cheshire Cat,
Certain recipes require whole spices and others require roasted ground spices.
The taste also differs accordingly.
